Training / Coaching Opportunities

CAST recognizes that many K9 SAR handlers have never participated in an IRO event and may not have a fundamental understanding of the requirements of the testing. We are planning several opportunities for training and coaching on the various elements of testing including:

• Obedience requirements
• Agility requirements
• Final response testing expectations for tracking, area search and rubble work
• Search requirements
• Working with the judge
• Required  / allowed equipment

Planned Dates for these Training Days are:

• May 21, 2017 (tentative-may be changed)
• June 17, 2017

Open Field will be July 27, 2017. Limited coaching will be available this day.

Locations for training will be in either Hollis, NH or Hancock, NH.  Please note, the focus of these trainings will not be long search problems or tracks.  Small area problems (E or A levels) may be possible, but we will not be offering rubble training during these days due to limitations on time.

Fee per day will be $40.00 per handler team (cash the day of training is required). Expect 1:1 coaching in obedience and agility and Final Response training.  We will have 2-3 instructors available so teams can work at the same time.
